VAT returns
If your business is turning over £85,000 or more, then it’s time to get Value-added Tax (VAT) registered. This is a big first milestone for any business owner and means that you’re now required to charge VAT on your invoices and pay that VAT after your return is completed.
A VAT return details what you paid in VAT, against the VAT you were charged. As part of your return, HMRC requires you to provide the summary numbers, but you must also keep the detailed records on file on compatible software, in preparation for any investigations HMRC may want to make.
For most businesses, keeping up with VAT paid vs VAT charged can become confusing and take up a lot of time; which is why they come to us! As with all our services, our team is highly experienced in completing VAT returns and has a wealth of knowledge in what can and can’t be applied and where there may be VAT exemptions.
You can learn more about VAT via the Government website or, speak to our experienced team to find out how we can support you.
